Becoming an It's Minnesotan Seller
How do I become a seller on It's
Minnesotan?
First, you will need to
register. Be careful when choosing your username, as it will also be your
"Viewer Profile" name. Once you have registered for a basic
(buyer) account, you will need to upgrade to a seller account. To do
this, click the Sellers tab on the navigation bar and follow the
on-screen directions. Note: You will need a valid PayPal
account to become a seller.
Who can be a seller?
Anyone who is at least 18 years of age can be a
seller on It's Minnesotan.
What is a Seller Profile?
Every seller on It's
Minnesotan gets their own Seller Profile free of charge. You will have to
activate your Seller Profile in your account information section. Your
list will automatically show up in your Seller Profile, in addition to
being placed in the public category that you listed them in.
Can I close my account to start a new one with a
different username?
If you really want to, yes you can. Note that
you will lose all data (including posted items and items sold) when doing
this. Contact support@itsminnesotan.com
to close an account.
Fees
When you list an item,
there is a .70 cents (USD) per item posted. Thats it! There is no commision on the items you sell.
And no other fees. Please let the community know that we are here to support Minnesotan artists
and crafters.
Webpage Inclusion
One of the unique services of Its Minnesotan is
that we allow complete contact of buyers and sellers. You can post your personal website information
when your listing your items. Customers can you’re your website
directly. We charge no fees for
this.
Selling
Policies
You can sell anything that is personally
created or, more loosely put, hand-assembled or hand-altered in the state
of Minnesota. For example, screen-printed shirts are fine. A
custom-built computer also counts, as long as you make the case and do
not buy prefab. Furniture is fine, as long as it is not mass-produced
(yes, you can use power tools to build it). If your hands personally
created the item you are listing and it was made in Minnesota, chances are that you can sell
it on It's Minnesotan. Reselling of handmade
items is not allowed. Please note: original music, poems, books and the
like are all permitted.
Your Item
Listings
There are a few ways an item can disappear from your shop:
If an item that has a quantity of 1 (in stock) sells, the listing is
removed. You will see it under the “Items in Que”
part of your listings home page. Also, if you start editing an item
listing and do not click the Finish button on Step 5 before you navigate
elsewhere on the site, the item will be left inactive.
When does my listing expire?
One year after the date it was listed.
How do I delete a listing?
Click the Delete link on your “Items for Sale” page of the item you wish to
delete.
If I delete a listing is my listing fee refunded?
Listing fees are non-refundable.
I sold an item in person at a craft show. Can I mark it
"sold" on It's Minnesotan?
No. The sold items section of
your shop is just for items sold through It's
Minnesotan. If you sell an item off-line, just delete the listing from
your shop.

How long can my Item
Description be?
Use as much space
as you need to accurately and completely describe your item. You can also change the font and color
to suit you. Be careful to
maintain a consistent look for all of your listings.

How do Categories
work?
Choose a Primary and a Secondary Category. Use
the dropdown menus to choose them.

All prices on It's Minnesotan are listed in United States Dollars
(USD). You can set this price to
be anything you want. Keep in
mind, the posting fee will be based on this price. 3.95% up to a max charge of $3.00. Quantity will always have to be
one. Because the items posted on
the site are unique, the quantity box will only allow you to list one at
a time.
You can set Freight based on
dollar value. You can also set
this to 0 and have the buyer contact you for shipping fee
information.

Click the browse button and locate the image on your computer.
Then click the upload button, and you'll see a thumbnail of the image
show up just below.
The
image must reside locally on your computer.
You
can reshuffle the order the order of the images by removing an image.
This can be difficult, so we recommend that you have your images in their
desired order before uploading. The first image you upload will be the
primary thumbnail and detail photo. You can have
up to five photos per item listing. You do not have to upload all five
images.

What happens if I don't click Finish? If
you do not click the finish button when you are first listing an item and
you navigate away from the listing steps, an incomplete listing will be
visible in your “items in que” folder.
How often can I edit my items? You
may edit your items at any time. There is no cost to edit an item
Re-listing a Sold
Item
To re-list an item, go to your
“Listed Items” page and click on the listing you
would like to re-list. Update the price and the quantity and repost it to
the site.
The
same 3.95% fee with a max charge of $3.00 applies when re-listing an item.
When you sell out of an item
and have more of it in stock that you wish to sell, simply go to your
listings homepage change the quantity and re-list the items.
Image Help
It
helps to ensure that the file is 250k in file size or below. Most users
will timeout before uploading files that are larger than that. Ensure the
file is a properly encoded jpeg, gif, or png.
Is there a firewall that could be blocking your
uploads? This might be the case if you
work for a large company and you are trying to upload from work.
Thumbnails on It's Minnesotan are a
perfect square, and gallery images are also square. Your original image should
to be square for best results.
Make
sure your original image is at least 500 pixels in width and height. If
it does not fit these specifications, we will stretch it to fit the page.
This can cause unpleasant effects.
The following file extensions
are valid: JPEG, JPG, GIF and PNG.

Items Sold
When
you sell an item, you are sent an email containing all the pertinent info
for the sale (item, buyer, etc.). The item's sold are automatically reduced by the
number that was sold and will be removed from the site and your “posted items”
section on your listings page and moved to the “items in que” section. We will include a link to PayPal for the buyer to follow for quick payment.
You can find the email address
for your buyer in the receipt It's Minnesotan emails
you for every item sold.

Buyer Payment
When do I get paid by the buyer?
You will be paid immediately. Payment is
submitted via PayPal before the transaction is
released. This is why its important to have a valid PayPal
account on file at all times.
Do I need a PayPal
account to sell on It's Minnesotan?
Yes, it is required to have a PayPal account to be a seller on It’s
Minnesotan. Buyers, however, can submit payment
by credit card through PayPal without having a PayPal account.
